Infusion Technician- Kitchener

We provide Infusion Equipment and Supplies services and Medical Supplies Services to the Hamilton Niagara Haldimond Brant CCAC and the Waterloo Wellington CCAC. Responsibilities

Marchese Health Care is looking for an IV Technician to join our new Kitchener location. You will become an important member of a team of clinical experts who provide infusion and medical supply services to home-based patients in the Waterloo-Wellington area. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Preparing sterile products following Marchese Health Care guidelines which are based on Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists Standards of Practice for aseptic technique and infection control. This includes, but is not limited to: sterile-to-sterile withdrawal from ampoules, vials and reconstitution of powders and manipulation into minibags, cassettes or syringes; non-sterile to sterile manipulation of liquids and powders; compounding of Total Parenteral Nutrition from its component parts and chemotherapy preparation
  • Perform calculations for all related paperwork and maintain all records
  • Ensuring maintenance of all of clean room areas, equipment, and workstations on a daily and monthly cleaning schedule and keeping required records of activity
  • Ensuring appropriate stock levels of medication and supplies based on approved inventory practices
  • Maintaining narcotic and control drug records and counts
  • Cleaning all Infusion pumps that are returned from the field to ensure that they are disinfected and free from all contaminants and performing a full operations test on all pumps to ensure that they are operational
  • Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned

Experience/Qualifications

  • Strong computer, organizational, problem solving and mathematical skills are required
  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills allowing for positive interactions with patients, service providers and fellow staff members
  • One to two years of home infusion and/or hospital experiences are recommended
  • In-house certification is required at the end of a probationary training period and at the completion of any specialized training program
  • Pharmacy technician diploma is highly recommended or the equivalent of 3-5 years infusion experience
  • Certification through Ontario College of Pharmacists is an asset

Marchese Health Care Pharmacist Leslie Chappell has become the company’s first pharmacist to be certified by the Commission for Certification in Geriatric Pharmacy.

The Certified Geriatric Pharmacist designation identifies pharmacists with expertise in drug therapy and pharmaceutical care to the elderly. She joins an elite group of pharmacists from around the world who have distinguished themselves as leaders in geriatric care.

Leslie’s certification will add a greater level of expertise and service delivery for both MediLink Community Health Services and Marchese Health Care.
