We provide Infusion Equipment and Supplies services and Medical Supplies Services to the Hamilton Niagara Haldimond Brant CCAC and the Waterloo Wellington CCAC. Responsibilities

Marchese Health Care is looking for an Intake Technician to join our new Kitchener facility. You will become an important member of a team of clinical experts who provide infusion and medical supply services to home-based patients in the Waterloo-Wellington area. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Triage incoming medical orders for completeness and appropriateness
  • Compile the client chart and enter client referral information into Nexxsys and identify the correct mixture breakdowns as per referral
  • Identify the required medical supplies and equipment to fit the medication order as appropriate. Ensure that equipment is programmed and operational.
  • Document activities as required to support effective service administration and continuous Improvements
  • Act as a clinical resource for internal and external clients for questions relating to medications, including pump-related queries within their scope of practice and the identification of when to refer a question to another resource
  • Identify order inconsistencies and bring them to the attention of the on-duty Pharmacist or referral source case manager for clarification or further information
  • Carry out other duties as assigned
  • As a key member of the Infusion Team, the Intake Technician may be requested to cross train with other positions within the department or the company to provide back up support as required

Experience/Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Strong computer, organizational, problem solving and mathematical skills are required
  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills allowing for positive interactions with patients, service providers and fellow staff members

EDUCATION:

  • Graduate from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program is preferred
  • OCP Certified or PEBC equivalency required

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The ideal candidate will have experience in a home infusion setting or extensive retail experience. Prior customer service experience is an asset.

Marchese Health Care Pharmacist Leslie Chappell has become the company’s first pharmacist to be certified by the Commission for Certification in Geriatric Pharmacy.

The Certified Geriatric Pharmacist designation identifies pharmacists with expertise in drug therapy and pharmaceutical care to the elderly. She joins an elite group of pharmacists from around the world who have distinguished themselves as leaders in geriatric care.

Leslie’s certification will add a greater level of expertise and service delivery for both MediLink Community Health Services and Marchese Health Care.
